PAP – Personal Autonomy Promotion Service.
The Personal Assistance Service (PAP) provides individualised support to dependent adults, helping them with their daily activities and promoting their autonomy.
Under the Dependency Law, personal assistance “carries out or collaborates in everyday tasks” for the person in order to promote independent living. A personal assistant can help with personal hygiene, meals, mobility, or administrative procedures, both at home and outside the home, for example by accompanying the person to work, school, or leisure activities.
This service enables older people or people with disabilities to remain in their family home with professional support, instead of having to move into a residential care facility, while giving them greater control over their care.
